It goes without saying that we are staying in the UK.   This song was written during the sessions recording The Beatles' White Album but was rejected for that album. Now which Beatle was is?  Off of his 1970 album All Things Must Pass...

We're still in the UK, but we're in Scotland now.  This is where we will find our next artist. Originally a folk artist in 1965, He quickly developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelia, and world music (notably calypso). A fun fact about this next song is that he had originally hoped Jimi Hendrix would play on the song, but he was unavailable.  This is the title track of his 1968 album...

Still not leaving the UK! They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, their first year of eligibility; the display describes them as "Prime contenders, in the minds of many, for the title of World's Greatest Rock Band." TIME magazine wrote in 1979 that "No other group has ever pushed rock so far, or asked so much from it." Rolling Stone magazine wrote: "Along with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, They complete the holy trinity of British rock.! I don't think we are going to travel out of the UK for this list.  This next band formed in 1967 by singer/songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan. After earning success in the early and mid-1970s, the band broke up after Bolan was killed in a 1977 car accident. On the recommendation of Elton John, this album was recorded outside of Paris at Château d'Hérouville to avoid British taxing laws. Off of their 1972 album The Slider...

I guess we are staying in the UK! This is where we will find this English musician, actor, record producer and arranger. His real name is David Robert Jones.  A major figure for over four decades in the world of popular music,  He is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He is known for his distinctive voice as well as the intellectual depth and considerable eclecticism of his work.  This funny thing is I am posting this on his 66th birthday!  Off of his 1971 album Hunky Dory...
