Jim's #4 album

This next legendary album is the eleventh studio album by the English progressive rock group Pink Floyd. Released as a double album on 30 November 1979, it was subsequently performed live with elaborate theatrical effects, and adapted into a feature film.  this albums is a rock opera that explores abandonment and isolation, symbolised by a metaphorical wall. The songs create an approximate storyline of events in the life of the protagonist, Pink, a character based on Waters, whose father was killed during the Second World War. Pink is oppressed by his overprotective mother, and tormented at school by tyrannical, abusive teachers. Each of these traumas become metaphorical "bricks in the wall". The protagonist eventually becomes a rock star, his relationships marred by infidelity, drug use, and outbursts of violence. As his marriage crumbles, he finishes building his wall, completing his isolation from human contact. Hidden behind his wall, Pink's crisis escalates, culminating in a hallucinatory on-stage performance where he believes that he is a fascist dictator performing at concerts similar to Neo-Nazi rallies, at which he sets men on fans he considers unworthyl Tormented with guilt, he places himself on trial, his inner judge ordering him to "tear down the wall", opening Pink to the outside world. The album turns full circle with its closing words "Isn't this where...", the first words of the phrase that begins the album, "...we came in?", with a continuation of the melody of the last song hinting at the cyclical nature of Waters' theme Released in 1979 Jim's number four album is...

Jim's #5 Album

This artist was an American musician, singer and songwriter. Despite a limited mainstream exposure of four years, he is widely considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. This album was recorded to fulfill the band's contract, which stated that they must produce two albums in 1967. Even so, it was not released in the USA until 1968 due to fears that it might disturb the sales of the first album. Noel Redding plays eight string bass on some tracks.
Just before the album's completion, He left the master tapes of side one in a taxi. They were never found again, and thus the A-side had to be mixed again quickly.  In 2003, the album was ranked #82 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.  Jim's number six album is...

Jim's #7 album

Staying in England this is where we will find this legendary band. This album has origins in a rock opera conceived by Pete Townshend called Lifehouse as an attempt to follow Tommy. The ambitious, complex project did not come to fruition at the time and instead, many of the songs written for the project were compiled onto this as a collection of unrelated songs. The album was a critical and commercial success when it was released, and has been certified 3× platinum by the RIAA. It continues to be critically acclaimed and has been reissued on CD several times, adding additional material intended for the Lifehouse project.
Released in 1971, Jim's number seven album is...

He is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, a child prodigy who developed into one of the most creative musical figures of the late 20th century.  Blind since shortly after birth,he signed with Motown's Tamla label at the age of eleven, and continues to perform and record for Motown to this day.  His legal name is Stevland Hardaway Morris. Stevie Wonder ~ Superstition
"Very superstitious, writings on the wall,
Very superstitious, ladders bout' to fall,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way

Very superstitious, wash your face and hands,
Rid me of the problem, do all that you can,
Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin' strong,
You don't wanna save me, sad is my song

When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way, yeh, yeh "

Colin's #2

Back to England we go, London to be exact. This is where we will find this incredibly popular alternative rock band!Attitudes to songwriting were affected by the September 11 attacks in the United States, which occurred the week before recording started. The songs featured in the album have a greater use of piano and electric guitar than its predecessor. These guys put on an amazing live show, I know from experience! Off of their amazing 2002 album A Rush Of Blood To The Head...

Colin;s number two song is...

Coldplay ~ Amsterdam

"Come on, oh my star is fading
And I swerve out of control
If I, if I'd only waited
I'd not be stuck here in this hole
Come here, oh my star is fading
And I swerve out of control
And I swear, I waited and waited
I've got to get out of this hole

But time is on your side, its on your side, now
Not pushing you down, and all around
It's no cause for concern

Come on, oh my star is fading
And I see no chance of release
And I know I'm dead on the surface
But I am screaming underneath

And time is on your side, its on your side, now
Not pushing you down, and all around
No it's no cause for concern"

Colin's #3

Time to travel across the country from Vegas to Boston! Where we will find alternative rock band. They are often recognized for its choice of instruments during their earlier years: two members playing acoustic guitars and one member playing various percussion instruments. Brian Rosenworcel, the band's percussionist (affectionately dubbed the Thundergod by fans), added to their unique sound with a combination of bongoscymbals, and other drums, playing live shows using only his bare hands. While Miller played rhythm parts, Gardner would often play a bass line on his guitar. Their sound is recognized for its vocal harmonies, with both Miller and Gardner singing lead vocals on different songs; in songs such as "What You Wish For" and this next song the two members sing different lyrics simultaneously.  Off of their 1999 album "Lost And Gone Forever"....

Colin's number three song is...
Guster ~ Happier

"Say goodbye, lose your friends, make them go, don't need them around
Cause it's time, lose your friends, make them go, was never supposed to be like this
They were too weak, too prone to break
Their needs too deep, their skin too thin
By now you took what was to take
Tear it apart and start again
So go on, if this will make you happier
It got you this far, did what you had to
You've wasted every moment of your Saturdays and your Sundays
You're wasted from the boredom, was never supposed to be like this
Like your father said, just do what was done unto you..always
In your father's steps you'll do what was done unto you
It won't be hard to start again
So go on, if this will make you happier
It got you this far, do what you have to
(Well you knew this would come)
And you're gone now
(And you've left me all alone)
And did it make you happier?
(And you're lost and long gone, don't take it so seriously)
It wasn't that hard
(Go on and get goin, I'm fine on my own)
Did what you had to
(We got you this far, finally got it figured out)"

Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down

[x10]
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier

Colin's #5

For the first time we are headed to Haiti, where we will find this rapper/singer-songwriter. An interesting fact about this artist is that on August 5, 2010, he filed for candidacy in the 2010 Haitian presidential election, although the Electoral Commission subsequently ruled him ineligible to stand as he had not met the requirement to have been resident in Haiti for five years.  Off of his 1997 album The Carnival...

Colin's number five song is...
Wyclef Jean ~ Gone Till November

"Every time i make a run, girl you turn around and cry, i ask myself why
Oh why, see you must understand i can't work a 9 to 5, so I'll be gone til

Colin's #6

We are finally leaving Europe, and we are now headed to the city of angels, LA.  This is where we will find this alternative rock band.   In 2008, Rolling Stone ranked this song #72 on "The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time." Pitchfork Media included the song at number 10 on their Top 200 Tracks of the '90s. This is "nerd rock" at its finest, off of their self-titled 1994 debut album, Colin's number six song is...

Weezer ~ Say It Ain't So

"Oh, yeah
Alright

Somebody's Heine' is crowdin' my icebox
Somebody's cold one is givin' me chills
Guess I'll just close my eyes
Oh yeah, all right, feels good inside

Flip on the tele'
Wrestle with Jimmy
Something is bubbling behind my back
The bottle is ready to blow

Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heart-breaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a life-taker"
